Sanitary rotary lobe pumps – also called rotary lobe pumps, three-lobe pumps, or sole pumps – consist of two lobe-shaped rotors. These rotors spin synchronously inside a casing without contact, dividing the chamber into small cavities that move fluid through a cyclic process:
- At position A: Only cavity I fills with medium.
- At position B: Medium gets trapped in cavity B.
- At position C: Medium is enclosed in cavity A.
- At position D: Cavities A and B connect to cavity II, releasing medium to the outlet.
This repeated cycle enables continuous material transfer. As rotors turn, the gaps between lobes and casing fill with fluid, which is then moved to the discharge nozzle in consistent volumes. Tight tolerances between lobes and casing ensure an uninterrupted flow, making the pump efficient.
